Abstract

Since the summer of 2015, signs have been growing that political bias is increasingly compromising academic research in Russia. The political leadership and bureaucracy do not even have to order repression. By means of anticipatory obedience, academics are themselves often making sure that the scope for critical debate becomes narrower. This is seen by way of example in a case involving from the Institute of Economics within the Academy of Sciences.
