Abstract
An “official discourse” on Russian history is taking place only in schoolbooks, whose content is controlled by the state. The presentation of the First World War stood, and stands, far behind that of the “Great Patriotic War” in schoolbooks as well. The result is a shocking ignorance about this historical phase among those who have completed grade school.
