Abstract

At the height of the global economic crisis in 2009, Poland was all the talk. It was the only member state of the EU and the OECD that did not plunge into recession. The market economy created over the past two decades proved to be largely stable. Since 1989, Poland’s economic structure has moved considerably towards the conditions of western EU countries. However, the crisis has slowed Poland’s process of catching up. The move up into the Champions League of European economic powers will still take some time.
