Abstract

In Poland, attitudes towards social inequality have changed. Inequality among today’s Polish youth is open for all to see. This social fact is apparently accepted by all, from the privileged who send their children to expensive private schools, to consumption and brand-name fetishists, to the under-privileged youths who escape into hooliganism or hip-hop sub-culture. That social inequality is accepted is a side-effect of Poland’s saturation with American pop culture. Nowhere else are the values of U.S. popular series taken so seriously as in Poland.
